No more mid-winter blues! Guerlain’s ambassador, supermodel Natalia Vodianova has created her first make-up collection with a limited edition of eight products that add a glowing, golden quality to your skin.
I especially love the Soufflé d'Or de Shalimar, a perfumed iridescent atomizer that shoots a mist of gold powder across your face and hair. Natalia has even more ideas than I do - and advocates using it on the back of your hands and your wrists. “That way a subtle scent is exuded when I move my hands,” says the Russian-born beauty.
Natalia created the collection with Guerlain’s creative director Olivier Echaudmaison. Together they chose a colour palette of sapphire and gold for the packaging. “I wanted something very beautiful and luxurious that would communicate the visual language of Shalimar”, said Natalia.
She’s called the collection Shalimar, the name of Guerlain’s soft, Oriental fragrance that was created in 1921. It’s her way of celebrating eight years as the brand’s ambassador and it’s a loving ode to a journey she made to Jaipur in India and to the Shalimar gardens that surround the Taj Mahal. “I am a great romantic”, she said. “The name symbolises my link to Guerlain.”
Météorites Perles de Légende – Light-revealing pearls of powder
An exclusive version of a much-loved product with three shades of pressed powder beads: pink for freshness, gold to illuminate, and blue to softly correct the complexion.
Rouge G Exceptional Complete Lip Colour & KissKiss Creamy Shaping Lip Colour
Natalia says: “The Rouge G jewel case and its integrated mirror have made this lipstick one of my must-have make-up products, which I always carry in my bag for easy touch-ups at any moment.” Her choice of an intense fuschia shade for a second lipstick, KissKiss, is inspired by rich Indian pigments.
L’Or Eyeliner - Sparkling Gold Felt Eyeliner & Écrin Shalimar - Precious Eyeshadows in Gold and Sapphire
Natalia advocates using the gold eyeliner on top of her eyeshadows – but it’s also very pretty when used under the outer corner of the lower lashes.
Terracotta Terra India Shimmering Bronzing Powder & Precious Light – Pink Pearly Illuminator
Natalia’s application tip for her bronzing powder: “Use the ‘3’ technique invented by Olivier Echaudemaison. Draw a ‘3’ on each side of the face, from the forehead to the cheeks, then to the chin.”
Use the Precious light (not pictured) applicator to add the subtlest hint of shimmer to cheekbones, the outer corner of the eyes, the bridge of your nose and the top of your lip for a light-reflecting shimmer.
Natalia has dedicated a portion of the profits to the charity she founded, The Naked Heart Foundation, which assists children in her homeland, Russia.
